R12 Report Manager - New Issues (and a Resolution) with FSG Drilldown

Author: Lee Briggs Date: Sep 23, 2011 9:37:11 AM

With the release of R12, Oracle had retired Client ADI, a tool that had been used for many things, amongst which was making FSG reports look pretty, and allowing users to drilldown into the financial information displayed on the reports to get more detailed information.

With the retirement of Client ADI, Oracle began to push Report Manager, a Report Repository tool that allows users to drill-down into FSG reports, as long as they have a report-specific Excel template assigned to them. I've been using Report Manager for some time, and I think it is a great tool to provide Management with access to the financial reports they need, as well as allowing them to discover what is behind the numbers (without bothering the folks in Accounting).

Communicating Purchase Orders to suppliers as PDF documents via email has been around for quite some time but there are some features that I find are under-utilized and are often not presented to customers. For example, did you know that you can have every PO copied to a generic email address? What about attaching documents to the email such as Terms and Conditions or any other files?

Migrating the OBI 11g Webcatalog and RPD from a Test to Production Environment

Author: Stephen Goldsmith Date: Sep 6, 2011 1:14:10 PM

The migration process for 11g is a little bit different from 10g in that the deployment of a new web catalog and repository is taken care of through the weblogic enterprise manager. The repository is uploaded through the application, while the web catalog still needs to be manually copied onto the server. To make it easy on yourself, just copy the contents of the catalog folder from test into the existing catalog folder in production. One thing to be aware of is that underlying security is taken care of in the weblogic layer now, so you will need to take that into consideration if your test and prod environments are different (or just have different application roles set up).

While SSO remains a crucial part of our daily multiple application access, we need to decide which type of SSO Implementation is best suited for our company. Auto Invoice – Common pitfalls

Author: Jonathan LeBlanc Date: Aug 23, 2011 4:00:03 AM

This is a continuation of my earlier post, ‘You have been tasked with developing an interface to AR and you’ve never used Oracle’s Auto Invoice before. What do you do?’. This time, the idea is to show some of the scenarios one would face while trying to import the invoices.

As most of you would agree, most of the time, the code never works the first time you run it. When you try to run Auto Invoice, after developing the code to interface the invoices into AR, you are naturally going to see some rejections.

If you are using R12 you may have encountered a requirement to setup all your legal entities with intercompany accounting for each. That is, for each legal entity, whether your setup requires that you configure intercompany relationships for each entity you have, or you are able to use the all other setup, it can still be a lot of work to configure.
